May Wellness Month: Nurturing Your Inner Landscape
As as the leaves change and the temperature cools we are called into a time of introspection and reflection. This month is dedicated to Wellness, with a special focus on Emotional Wellbeing and the Self-Care Practices that keep us grounded.
In the hustle of daily life, our emotional health can sometimes take a backseat. This month, we’re hitting the pause button to prioritise the “inner work” clearing and creating space for new things to germinate and the new energy to begin to emerge.
Focus: The Art of Emotional Wellbeing
Emotional wellness isn’t about being happy all the time; it’s about creating the space to acknowledge, feel, and navigate the full spectrum of your emotions with grace and compassion. When we tune into our emotional needs, we build resilience and find a deeper sense of peace. This gives us insight and a deeper connection to all parts of our being and an emotional resiliense that allows all feeling to have a place in our expereince.
This Month’s Reflection:
“Self-care is not a luxury; it is a discipline. It’s about creating a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.”
Weekly Self-Care Rituals to Try
Build your emotional reserve with these simple, effective practices:
-
Week 1: Mindful Mornings. Before checking your phone, spend a few minutes in silence. Notice your breath and set a single intention for how you want to feel today. Perhaps internally recite an affirmation or tell yourself something kind and what you love about yourself.
-
Week 2: Digital Detox. Choose one evening this week to power down all devices two hours before bed. Use the time to read, journal, do a gentle practice or enjoy a quiet bath.
-
Week 3: The Power of ‘No’. Emotional wellbeing often starts with boundaries. Practice saying no to one thing that drains your energy to make room for something that restores it.
-
Week 4: Creative Release. Spend 20 minutes engaging in a hobby like painting, gardening, or even cooking. Do this purely for the joy of the process, not the result. Letting go of the outcome and just being in the moment is a powerful way to practice detachment.
A Note on Resilience
Remember, wellness is a journey, not a destination. Some days will feel easier than others, and that is perfectly okay. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate the month ahead. We are still in a deep process of change, so moment to moment we go. When in doubt, focus on your heart, breathe and just be present in the moment.
