Kendra as an Affiliate Yoga Therapist

Kendra is one of Canberra’s few registered Yoga Therapists offering personalized yoga as therapy. She is an affiliate practitioner at Canberra Yoga Space.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is an emerging field of natural medicine that compassionately reintegrates the mind-body relationship. It is a mindful approach to wellness that requires active participation, using the principles of yoga within a professional therapeutic relationship.
This evidence-based complementary therapy is particularly effective at improving mental health, anxiety and depression, and nurturing a deeper knowledge of the self to reawaken a self-healing ability. Yoga therapy can be practised along with conventional medical treatments.

Kendra is a registered Yoga Therapist with The Australasian Association of Yoga Therapists and Yoga Australia, registered Senior teacher and member of The Traditional Medicine Society.

Personalised Practice takes into consideration your current health requirements, special needs, lifestyle and time to practice. You will be offered regular support through private or group practices and progress will be monitored.

Kendra approaches yoga as a complementary system of health, not an alternative one. Kendra supports and works in conjunction with your normal medical treatments and encourages communication with your current medical team. Yoga therapy offers a deeper understanding of chronic health and wellness, which empowers you to manage your own condition and improve your quality of life.

Do you have a mental health challenge?

Many of Kendra’s private clients are referred from mental health organisations, at a time when their care plan requires a mind-body approach to their wellbeing and healing journey. Clients receive a highly individualized self-care plan after an extensive lifestyle assessment.

Her group classes and private programs reflect her certification in Mindful Yoga Therapy, Trauma-Aware Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation, as well as 25 years of clinical experience with pain, anxiety and depression.

Kendra follows a tradition that is dynamic and open to the changing teaching environments and aspirations of her students. Dynamic traditions compared to linear traditions are initiated through introspection and current research.

You can find Kendra teaching RELAX and RESILIENCE at CYS on Fridays at 9.30 am, online via Telehealth or in her studio’s at Braddon and Kambah.
